Award-winning Journalist and Author Peter Mansbridge will be in Sarnia on Friday to discuss his latest book as part of a fundraising event in support of Literacy Lambton.
The Showcase Literacy event, organized by The Book Keeper, will be held at the Dante Club on December 1 at 7 p.m.
Store Manager Julie Hillier-Vrolyk said with fewer than 100 tickets remaining, they expect it to be a sold-out event.
"We've had a great response to him coming," Hillier-Vrolyk said.
Mansbridge retired from CBC in 2017, where was a chief correspondent and anchor of The National. He has received numerous awards over the years. He was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 2008 and received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012.
In his latest book, "How Canada Works", Mansbridge and former CBC producer Mark Bulgutch look at the jobs that keep the nation running and the inspiring people who work in these various roles.
During the event, Mansbridge will participate in a Q-and-A, moderated by Sarnia Lambton Chamber of Commerce CEO Carrie McEachran.
"They will talk for maybe about an hour. Once they're done speaking, they'll take some questions of course, and then there will be a book signing," said Hillier-Vrolyk.
Copies of Mansbridge's latest book will be available to purchase at the Dante Club.
Showcase Literacy hasn't been held in a few years, since before the COVID-19 pandemic. Proceeds will support Literacy Lambton's programming and the Give A Book campaign, which aims to provide books to children in the community.
Remaining tickets can be purchased on The Book Keeper's website for $25 each.
