Lambton Shores has received $79,000 in capital grant funding through the Ontario Trillium Foundation to support upgrades at the Port Franks Community Centre.
Work at the shared community space began earlier this year, which included HVAC and electrical replacements.
As specified in a media release, LED lighting also replaced the existing lights throughout the facility.
“The Port Franks Community Centre is an integral hub for community activity,” said Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook. “There has been an increased demand on staff and resources to continually repair the aging equipment within the facility, and this funding helped make the much-needed investment to extend the overall life of this busy community centre.”
The Port Franks Community Centre holds two community halls, a meeting space, and is home to the Port Franks Library.
The site hosts various community activities that range from cards, quilting, pickleball, and shuffleboard. The community centre is also home to the Ausable Port Franks Optimist Club.
