The second annual “Ride of Respect” Poker Run will be held on Sunday, July 28 in support of the Rebound Rocks program.
Last year's inaugural fundraiser generated about $2,000 for the organization, and they're hoping to raise at least $2,500 this year.
Organizer David Burrows said they start at the Moose Lodge on Philip Street in Sarnia and will go on about a 184-kilometre trek.
He said it's open to both motorcycles and cars.
"We'll head to the Moose Lodge in Wallaceburg, the Moose Lodge in Chatham, over to Johnny Quests in Thamesville, and then Black Gold Brewery in Petrolia," said Burrows. "We'll then head to Rebound, and back to the Moose Lodge in Sarnia. Rebound Rocks will be playing a concert at the end of the event."
Burrows said it's not a race, but more of a leisurely ride to see the sites.
"You go to each of the five locations, and you'll get a stamp," he said. "When you come back to Sarnia's Moose Lodge, you'll draw your five cards and the best poker hand wins first place. We've got trophies for first, second and third."
The cost to enter is $20 per driver or rider, and an additional $10 for passengers.
According to the Sarnia-Lambton Rebound website, Rebound Rocks provides youth 13 to 18 with skilled volunteer mentors who help guide them in creating a rock band, assisting and encouraging them to achieve their full potential. Rebound Rocks provides the full experience of being part of a rock band including weekly rehearsals and opportunities to play live concerts in the community.
The youth learn performance skills, live sound production, song writing and event management.
Burrows said everyone is welcome to come out to the Sarnia Moose Lodge's weekly Sunday breakfast, at 9 a.m. Sunday.
Registration starts at 10 a.m., and the poker run kicks off at 11:30 a.m.
