Sting Dogged By Penalties Again

For the second straight game the Sarnia Sting spent too much time in the penalty box and paid the price.

After taking eight penalties in a 5-2 loss in Erie Friday, the Sting was assessed ten infractions Saturday in a 2-0 loss to Niagara at the new Meridian Centre.

The Ice Dogs opened the scoring on the power play in the first period.

The second period would be scoreless with Niagara adding its second goal midway through the third.

The only bright spot for the Sting was goaltender Taylor Dupuis who kept the team in the game despite being outshot 46-27.

Dupuis was named the game's second star.

The loss concluded a stretch of five consecutive road games with Sarnia-Lambton hosting the World Under 17 Hockey Challenge.

Sarnia won the first two games but dropped the next three.

The Sting (6-9-1-1) has slipped to ninth place in the Western Conference, a point ahead of the Windsor Spitfires.

The team returns to the RBC Centre for games Friday and Saturday against the Oshawa Generals and Sudbury Wolves.
