The Parole Board of Canada has denied day parole to convicted murderer Jeremy Molitor.
The Sarnia native was convicted in December 2004 of second degree murder in the May 2002 stabbing death of 21-year-old Jessica Nethery.
He is currently serving his sentence in a British Columbia prison and the family intended to make the trip west to make victim impact statements at the parole hearing.
The Nethery family, in a post on social media, thanks the thousands of people that signed a petition opposing Molitor's release.
Parole Board of Canada spokesman Patrick Storey tells Blackburn News that Molitor will not be able to reapply for day parole for another two years. He says, however, Molitor can apply for unescorted temporary absences at anytime.
The victim's family says they'll continue to fight to keep him in prison.
