CCAC Cutbacks Raise Concerns

A local poverty law clinic is expressing concerns over Community Care Access Centre cuts in the region. The CCAC is re-assessing the needs of sick people to address a shortfall in funding.

Community Legal Assistance Sarnia Paralegal Kathy Wodzinski says that's causing problems for those who heavily rely on the home care service.

Wodzinski says the re-assessment interviews aren't being conducted properly. She says many are short, done over the phone, and don't outline appeal options for those faced with service cuts.

Wodzinski says senior government should be pushed for more funding rather than impacting CCAC clients.

Community Legal Assistance Sarnia is holding two information sessions on the matter.

They're scheduled for December 16 at All Saints Anglican Church from 3pm until 4:30pm, and from 5pm until 6:30pm.
