Blast Of Winter Makes Police Busy

The blast of winter weather made Lambton OPP busy over the weekend.

Officers responded to 29 calls Sunday night alone, 21 of those were collisions.

Lesser traveled routes were still slippery and snow packed around noon Monday.

Ploughing and salting was ongoing in Sarnia.

Public works says blowing snow on rural roads in open areas was causing icy wind swept surfaces.

15 motor vehicle collisions were reported to Sarnia police the first weekend of 2015.

Officers responded to a total of 115 calls for service including four break and enters, eight thefts and 13 domestic/family dispute calls.

Police also conducted 21 traffic stops for various violations.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
