Integrity Commissioner?

Sarnia council will consider Mayor Mike Bradley's request to establish an integrity commissioner and code of conduct when it meets Monday.

Bradley has put forth a Notice of Motion asking that staff prepare a report.

Bradley says he would like to see the document returned back to councillors within 45 days, leading to implementation of the position by no later than July 1.

Bradley says this would not create a new position at the city. He says it's common practice in many communities is to have an individual on retainer annually, at an average cost of $15,000-$20,000 each year.

Bradley says he will bring a similar motion to Lambton County Council within the next few weeks.

Sarnia City Council meets in regular session at 4pm Monday, January 19.
