Power Bills Must Be Monthly, OEB

The Ontario Energy Board says by the end of 2016 all electricity distributors in the province will be required to bill their customers on a monthly basis.

In a news release this week, the OEB says it wants to help customers more effectively manage their costs.

The move has financial implications for Bluewater Power that has always billed bi-monthly.

It's estimated it could cost the local utility $200,000 a year for postage alone.

CEO Janice McMichael-Dennis says customers are encouraged to switch to paperless billing to lessen any potential impact on rates in the future.
