The Lambton Community Health Study Board says it's making significant progress in establishing a multi-million dollar study to determine the effects of the petrochemical industry on the health of local residents.
Chair Anne Marie Gillis says they're into the final phase of a three phase initiative.
She says tremendous strides have been made over the past 10 months, including establishing a research partnership with Dr. Laurie Chan.

The community led group formed in 2007.
Gillis says they want a definitive answer as to whether or not local industry is adversely impacting the health of residents but it could be anywhere from three to five years before study results are known.
The Sarnia-Lambton Environmental Association has offered to fund 30 per cent of the study provided senior government funding is secured.
