Sarnia Accessibility Summit

The City of Sarnia will be celebrating the community's accessibility accomplishments at the second annual Accessibility Summit on Friday.

The hope is to educate the public on the diverse ways that Sarnia-Lambton leads the charge towards a fully accessible province.

"Accessibility is very important," says City of Sarnia Accessibility Coordinator Dale Mosely. "Letting everybody enjoy our programs and services is top priority for us no matter what their abilities are."

There will be a variety of speakers at the event including Minister of Economic Development Brad Duguid. He will be speaking about the ways in which communities like Sarnia are contributing to making Ontario an accessible province by 2025.

There will also be musical stylings from local musician Chris Molyneaux, as well as keynote speaker Dan Edwards of 'it Happens.' Mayor Mike Bradley and Bob Vansickle will also be speaking at the event.

Breaking Barriers to Business, a program unique to Sarnia, will be celebrating their first anniversary in assisting businesses to accommodate people with disabilities at the event.

"Great things are happening in the City of Sarnia for accessibility," says Mosely.

The event takes place May 29 from 12-1:30pm at the Lambton College Event Centre on London Rd.
