Sting Storm Guelph

After back-to-back one goal losses the Sarnia Sting took out their frustrations on the struggling, roster-depleted Guelph Storm Saturday night.

The Sting scored early and often, six times in fact in the first period, en route to a 7-0 win before a season-high crowd of 3,160 at the SSEC.

Pavel Zacha and Jordan Kyrou led the Sting with two goals each while Brandon Lindberg recorded two assists. Patrick White and Davis Brown also scored in the first period.

After a scoreless second, defenceman Connor Schlichting fired home his first goal of the season and the second of his OHL career on the power play midway through the third period.

Justin Fazio stopped all 24 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season.

Sarnia outshot Guelph 42-24 with Bradley Van Schubert going the distance in goal for the visitors.

Zacha, now with nine goals and 14 points, was named the game's first star, Kyrou earned second star honours and Fazio was named the third star.

The Sting (11-7-2) have two home games next weekend. The Owen Sound Attack visit the SSEC Friday and the Niagara Ice Dogs Saturday.

Elsewhere in the OHL Saturday, former Sting captain Daniel Nikandrov, traded to Peterborough this week, had a goal in his first game with the Petes, an 8-4 home ice win over Sudbury.
