The Lambton Kent District School Board is considering closing a Sarnia high school and an elementary school in Plympton-Wyoming. Trustees are being asked to approve the establishment of two Accommodation Review Committees at their meeting in Sarnia tonight. (Tues) Board Director of Education Jim Costello says one would study an initial staff report recommending that SCITS (Sarnia Collegiate Institute & Technical School) and St. Clair Secondary Schools be consolidated on the St Clair site. The other committee would study a recommendation to close South Plympton Public School and consolidate it with Wyoming Public School in Wyoming. Costello says other factors including the elimination of provincial top-up funding and the age of the buildings involved necessitates development of a multi-year plan in the interest of fiscal responsibility and enhanced student learning.
