Sting Beat Battalion To Begin Weekend

Sarnia's offence erupted for five goals Friday night to help snap a three game losing skid.

Pavel Zacha scored his team leading 14th goal of the season to open the scoring just over a minute into the contest, but the lead was short lived as North Bay would tied the game just a few shifts later. The Sting regained the advantage when Sasha Chmelevski notched his sixth of the season midway through the first frame.

Sarnia scored three second period goals, two from Patrick White, to open up a 5-1 lead.

Newcomer Matt Mistele, acquired in a trade from Oshawa, assisted on a Nikita Korostelev goal to record his first point as a Sting. The five Sarnia goals on 22 shots were enough to chase North Bay starter Jake Smith from the net.

North Bay scored the third period's only goal as Sarnia held on for the 5-2 victory, winning their fifth straight game at home.

The Sting continue their weekend Saturday night in Flint before hosting Ottawa Sunday for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game.

The pregame show starts at 7:05pm on CHOK.
