Funding For Summer Positions

Not-for-profit organizations, public sector employers and small businesses with less than 50 employees are eligible for funding to hire full time summer workers.

They can apply through the Canadian Summer Jobs program.

Sarnia-Lambton MP Marilyn Gladu says the program benefits both the employer, and the students looking for summer work.

"Employers will receive part of the salary, in some cases 100 per cent of the salary if they're not for profit organizations and so its a great way for organizations to take advantage of young talent, and its a great way for young talent to get some experience" says Gladu.

The program hopes to hire 35,000 students nationwide this summer.

Employer applications are being accepted from January 4 to February 26. If approved funding will be available to hire students as early as May.
