The Sarnia-Lambton Chamber of Commerce supports Ontario's decision to increase the minimum wage 15 cents to $11.40 effective October 1.
Chamber President Shirley De Silva is pleased the increase is tied to the rate of inflation and Consumer Price Index.
She expects a couple of sectors to be impacted the most.
"From recent survey's we know that the hospitality and leisure sectors are the areas that will be most impacted by the minimum wage increase, and hopefully the low loonie can offset some of the impacts for those particular industries," says DeSilva.
The province announces the new minimum wage before April 1 each year to give businesses time to adjust before it takes effect six months later.
