The County of Lambton is being recognized for its work to provide education and resources to employees to combat domestic violence.
The county's "Make It Our Business" initiative trains employees on domestic violence and its impact in the workplace.
The Centre for Research and Education on Violence Against Women and Children of UWO recently presented Warden Bev MacDougall with a certificate of recognition.
She says the effects of domestic violence can sometimes carry over to the workplace.
"Sometimes the best that you can do is to recognize and provide some moral support. Recognition, and then assist and support your employees as people who are dealing with the real life issue of violence in their lives," says MacDougall.
As of the end of May, about 350 of the county's 1,200 employees have completed or were scheduled to complete the training.
