More Scams Making The Rounds

Another day, another scam making the rounds.

There's apparently a very official looking email circulating. It indicates it's from "itunes", notifying customers of a new monthly charge and asks for banking information and your social insurance number. Ignore it.

And it didn't talk long for unscrupulous sales people to take advantage of media reports, later denied by the provincial Liberal government, that they were going to phase out heating with natural gas.

At least one Sarnia resident complained to MPP Bob Bailey's office about a sales rep going door-to-door, telling people their furnace and air conditioning units were outdated and new government legislation states they must have it replaced.

Police say that is not the case.

The sales person did not sign their name to the contract and insisted the units be replaced the next day. After cancelling the contract, the sales person returned to the home. The man of the house made it clear they did not want the service and the salesman refused to leave until the owner threatened to call police.
