Time To Put On Your Thinking Cap

A process to name Sarnia's new consolidated secondary school has been initiated. An ad hoc naming committee, for the consolidated St. Clair Secondary School and SCITS, is seeking name submissions. Lambton Kent District School Board Director of Education Jim Costello is curious to see what people come up with. "These decisions are best made by members of the public who live in that community. So, we would like to hear what people in south Sarnia have to say about that," he says. "I believe the committee has made it clear that they don't want any acronym or rendition of the name that is either St. Clair Secondary School or SCITS. So, it's up to them and they've said they would like to see something fresh and new, so we'll see what comes forward." Costello says you can submit ideas online on the school boards website, under the ARC - Sarnia South Secondary Schools section or fill out a form and drop it in a ballot box located at SCSS, SCITS or the Sarnia or Chatham Board Offices. Submissions will be accepted from July 6 to July 27. Members of the committee will then review the names and rationales and develop a shortlist for further input . The board will be presented a recommendation for approval August 30.
