Sarnia City Hall Has Key Management Positions To Fill

Sarnia City Hall has a number of key management positions to fill.

City Manager Margaret Misek-Evans says the city clerk's position remains vacant and they may need to repost that job soon.

She says they hope to fill the position of director of planning building and bylaw enforcement soon and will list job postings for the director of parks and recreation and human resources manager positions as soon as possible.

"We post generally in the order of four weeks and lately we've been trying to keep the postings open a little bit longer and then interview as we go based on the response and the understanding that the posting remains open until a suitable candidate is found," says Misek-Evans.

She is confident the city can function in the meantime.

Misek-Evans says they've had a lot of inter-departmental cooperation and support and is confident the city can manage big projects, like the remediation of Centennial Park and day-to-day operations at the Children's Animal Farm, in the interim.

The city manager announced Wednesday that Human Resources Manager Chris Armstrong is retiring and Parks and Recreation Director Beth Gignac was stepping down to begin graduate studies at the University of Windsor and act as the town of LaSalle's director of recreation and culture this fall.
