Sarnia's Corey Pawley has signed a contract to play professional hockey in Sweden.
He will suit up for Brunflo IK, in the Norra group of Division One, the third tier of professional ice hockey in Sweden.
The move follows a Sutherland Cup Championship season with the Caledonia Corvairs.
A graduate of the Lambton Jr. Sting AAA program, Pawley displayed his offensive fire power during his Minor Midget campaign (24 goals and 57 points in 30 games) and was a rewarded when he was chosen in the fourth round of the 2011 OHL draft by the London Knights. Pawley even got a taste of the GOJHL as Minor Midget call up for a pair of games with the Sarnia Legionnaires during the 2011 playoffs.
He continued his offensive success during his first year of Junior ‘B’ hockey, scoring 50 points in 47 games as a 16-year-old split between the London Nationals and the Lambton Shores Predators.
Pawley was given a chance with the Knights to start the 2012-2013 campaign, but had a hard time finding ice time on a very deep London team. He was traded to Kingston in August on 2013, where he would go on to record 70 points over two seasons with the Frontenacs.
Pawley lead the entire GOJHL with 111 points last season. He added 58 more points during Caledonia's run to their third straight Sutherland Cup Championship.
