Council Meets Behind Closed Doors On Workplace Investigation

Sarnia council met behind closed doors for over four hours Thursday, discussing a Workplace Investigation report involving Mayor Mike Bradley.

Outside legal counsel is representing the city on the matter.

James Knight of Fillion Wakely Thorup Angeletti LLP told reporters waiting outside, that there will be no comment until a media release is issued, possibly late Thursday or Friday.

"In this case, as you well know, there has been an extensive investigation and so the media release relies on the investigation that's been conducted and it's better that you wait for the release to get the full information," Knight told reporters at city hall. "What will be made public is in accordance with any legal protections based on privacy and FIPA (Freedom of Information and Protection Act) concerns."

Knight's law firm, that specializes in employment law, has offices in London, Hamilton and Toronto.

In late June, Sarnia Council suspended Mayor Bradley’s salary for three months after the Integrity Commissioner found he contravened the rules of conduct in his dealings with certain city hall staff.

When Robert Swayze issued his report, it was revealed that an extensive workplace harassment investigation by a human resource consultant was also underway.
