Prank Bomb Threat Against Great Lakes Secondary School

Sarnia police are working with American authorities after a bomb threat was made against Great Lakes Secondary School, the former SCITS, over the weekend.

Police say they were made aware October 9 that a threat, claiming to involve ISIS, had been made via the internet.

Constable John Sottosanti says members of the Cybercrimes Unit and other law enforcement agencies determined the threat originated in New Jersey.

"From there American law enforcement personnel were able to locate the suspect and determine it was an 18-year-old male, who had no connection to ISIS and his intention was to prank the school," says Sottosanti. "American law enforcement officials are still looking into the matter to determine if any charges will be laid."

Constable Sottosanti says all threats will be taken seriously, investigated thoroughly, and could result in criminal charges if grounds exist.
