The competition lived up to expectations at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club's Oil Heritage Classic this past weekend.
Teams were in town from as far as Sweden, with a bulk of the teams from Canada and the USA.
Glenn Howard came out on top in Sunday's final to win the tournament, in what was likely the best field in the history of the classic.
The club's Ian Parker says with the level of talent that was in town, they had more spectators than they have in past years.
"Sunday for the final, it's usually just family and friends, but we definitely saw and influx of people this year and I think it was to see Glenn in the final."
Mark Bice lost to Howard in the semifinals while Heath McCormack did not advance Sunday's playoffs. Both play out of the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club (SGCC) and will be participating in Olympic trials over the next few weeks. Other members included Dale Kelly and Evan Lilly.
The winning team consists of Glenn Howard as Skip, Adam Spencer at Vice, David Mathers at Second, and Scott Howard at Lead.
Parker says the strong field likely has a lot to do with the upcoming Olympics, as it's a key event for those looking to make their Olympic teams. The tournament was an official stop on the World Curling Tour.
