A new executive director has been named at the Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park.
Dr. Katherine Albion takes over effective Tuesday for Tom Strifler who will retire after a short transitional period.
Dr. Albion says she's honoured to assume the leadership at a time when the park is in a very strong position with mid-90% occupancy.
"I think it's just a very exciting for the Sarnia-Lambton region right now," says Albion. "There are many new opportunities on the horizon, and we look to secure these and develop the region further."
Dr. Albion has had a number of roles at the park since 2008.
She has a PhD in Engineering Science from Western University and has received many accolades including the Award of Excellence from the Canadian Academy of Engineering Energy Pathways Task Force.
Board Chair and Mayor Mike Bradley says Dr. Albion will be a great fit for the position. "The Western Sarnia-Lambton Research Park is fortunate to be able to transition from one highly effective and visionary leader to the next," says Bradley.
"The Board thanks Tom for his professionalism and insight over the past four years and offers its sincerest congratulations to Katherine, whom it looks forward to working alongside in the months and years to come."
The Western-Sarnia-Lambton Research Park, created in November 2003, is home to a number of high profile tenants including Nova Chemicals, Enbridge, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, and WorleyParsons.
