Sting Take Care Of Business Against The Firebirds (GALLERY)

The Sarnia Sting broke a five game losing streak in a big way with a 7-1 win over the last place Flint Firebirds Friday night.

The Sting had dropped their previous 2 games to their west division rivals, but this one was never really in doubt. Sarnia jumped out to a 3-0 lead, then rode their goalie to the 7-1 win-- Justin Fazio stopped 39 of the 40 shots he faced. Sean Josling and Franco Sproviero had two goals and an assist each, and were named the first star and second stars of the game.

The contest, that started an hour early to avoid conflicting with the World Junior Hockey Championship final, drew 2,558 fans.

Sting players and some fans stuck around at Progressive Auto Sales Arena after the game to watch on the new scoreboard as their captain won a gold medal for Canada. Jordan Kyrou had an assist in the Canadians 3-1 win over the Swedes and finished as Canada's leading scorer with 10 points including 7 assists. The Sting are Saginaw Saturday night to take on the Spirit.

New military crosswalk in Sarnia to be unveiled

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
