Owners of electric vehicles in Sarnia-Lambton have more options to charge up when they're on the road.
Over a dozen electric vehicle charging stations, at nine sites, are now open to the public.
Lambton County Warden Bill Weber said the 13 new installations substantially expands the local network of those available to electric vehicle drivers.
"I think it is the way of the future and I believe that as they become more available, it would be something I would certainly look at down the road," said Weber. "I know the province has taken away some assistance for purchasing electric vehicles but I think people that are conscious of the environment will still go that direction when it becomes affordable and available."
About 80% of the $157,000 cost was funded through an Ontario Ministry of Transportation grant.
Some of the new locations include Lambton Public Health in Point Edward, the Lambton Heritage Museum, the Petrolia Public Works Depot and Lambton Meadowview Villa.
