Project manager hired for load corridor

The city of Sarnia has hired a project manager for the long-planned oversize load corridor.

Lyle Johnson is a senior project manager and constructability coordinator with over 30 years of petrochemical experience.

He will manage and coordinate all planning, design, and implementation of the load corridor.

The project, estimated to cost $12 million, would require significant road and power line modifications to create a dedicated route to move large modules between Sarnia's metal fabrication shops and Sarnia Harbour.

Local governments and an industry coalition have committed half of the cost, and are lobbying for senior government funding.

Ontario's Doug Ford government has indicated support, but the federal government hasn't.

The city of Sarnia is the lead agency with other partners including Lambton County, St. Clair Township, the Sarnia-Lambton Economic Partnership, and Sarnia Lambton Industrial Alliance.
