A long-time Sarnia physician will take over a retiring family physician's practice in the city.
The Physician Recruitment Taskforce of Sarnia-Lambton and Bluewater Primary Care Centre have announced Dr. Heather Rogan is joining the centre at 481 London Rd.
Recruitment Coordinator Carly Cox says Dr. Rogan is taking over Dr. Kim Barnett's practice.
"The physician recruitment taskforce only recruits family doctors to the community, so we recruit to all of Lambton County, and we still have a long way to go," says Cox. "For example, Dr. Barnett is one of four physicians that are retiring just this year and we expect about 11 more to retire in the next five years."
Cox says Dr. Rogan is moving into private practice after working for 16 years at the North Lambton Community Health Centre in Forest and Sarnia.
The mother of two completed her medical training in Winnipeg, Manitoba and returned to Ontario after graduation to work in Red Lake, Ontario. She also spent some time in Manitoulin Island before relocating to Sarnia.
Throughout her career, Dr. Rogan has provided comprehensive family medicine, hospital care, obstetrics and emergency medicine.
Cox says at this time Dr. Rogan will not be accepting new patients, as she's going to focus on getting familiar with the current patient list first.
