Sarnia council accepted a $278,000 tender from Cope Construction for a multi-use trail along the Bissell-McArthur Drain -- which runs behind our Blackburn Radio studios on London Rd. and over behind the Metro grocery store.

A grant from the Ontario Municipal Commuter Cycling program will cover 80 per cent of the cost, while the Bluewater Trails Committee has agreed to pick up the city's 20 per cent share.

The committee has said the connection will provide a major active transportation corridor for college students and another connection for residents to use the trail.

Sarnia council has endorsed Warwick Township's fight to protect farm families, employees and animals.

The municipality has asked Attorney General David Downey to work with his fellow MPP's and agricultural leaders to find a better way to ensure stronger enforcement of existing laws or that new legislation be created.

The action is in response to harassment of farmers and livestock transporters by activists opposed to animal agriculture and consumption.
