Sarnia police have laid an impaired driving charge after a car left a path of damage in an incident early Friday morning.
At about 12:50 a.m. police said a vehicle westbound on Errol Road North, near Windemere Crescent, mounted the north curb and struck a wooden hydro pole breaking it in half with the upper portion suspended by the hydro wires.
Police said the car continued westbound along the sidewalk and lawns of various homes, then struck a vehicle, a wooden fence, a grey utility box, a pickup truck and another wooden fence before coming to rest on the sidewalk.
A 56-year-old Sarnia man was taken to hospital for treatment of injuries and later charged with impaired driving.
In another incident, a 32-year-old woman was charged after an officer saw a car northbound on Murphy Road swerve in its lane at about 2:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 9. Police said breath tests showed the woman had well over twice the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.
