Sarnia police seize meth, fentanyl in $50K drug bust

Sarnia police seized over $50,000 in drugs from a home in the 100 block of Alfred Street on Tuesday evening.

Police were investigating a male who was allegedly trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl.

Vice Unit officers executed a search warrant at the home around 7:40 p.m. and took a number of people into custody.

Police say they recovered 50.6 grams of powdered fentanyl ($25,300), 206.2 grams of methamphetamine ($20,610), 29.88 grams of cocaine ($2,988), thirteen 6mg hydromorphone pills ($195), and fifty-seven 18mg hydromorphone pills ($1,410).

They also seized about $2,200 in cash, as well as a functioning taser and shotgun.

Leslie William Hawkins, 42, and Jessica Lauren Walker, 30, are both charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.

Walker was also arrested on an outstanding warrant for theft under $5,000, while Hawkins also faces two counts of breaching probation.

A 31-year-old Sarnia man was charged with failing to comply with recognizance, and a 59-year-old man faces a weapons charge.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
