Snow squall warnings in effect

The Lake Huron snow machine shifted into gear Thursday with gusty northwest winds creating snow squalls.

Environment Canada posted a warning for north and east Lambton County Thursday morning.

Up to 25 centimetres of snow (10 inches) is possible in some areas Thursday afternoon and Thursday night.

Meteorologist Peter Kimbell said with the winds north-northwesterly, there's the possibility of some squall activity in the city and west Lambton as well.

"The winds could shift more northerly, what that means is snow squalls could be pushing over the City of Sarnia as well," said Kimbell. "No warning at this time for Sarnia but we could see accumulations in Sarnia as well later in the day or tonight. Those snow squalls will probably dissipate tomorrow morning, and then we have the rest of Friday to kind of regroup before more snow on Saturday."

Visibility will be significantly reduced at times in snow and blowing snow.

Snow squall warnings are also posted for Huron-Perth, London-Middlesex, Grey-Bruce, Waterloo-Wellington, and Barrie-Orillia.
