No serious injuries as pole pierces vehicle in crash

A driver and passenger are lucky to be alive following a crash on Lakeshore Road Wednesday.

Lambton OPP, Lambton EMS and the Lambton Shores Fire Department were called to a single-vehicle collision just before 7 p.m.

Constable Katie Hill said the investigation revealed the vehicle was travelling south on Lakeshore Road when it left the road and struck a hydro pole.

The hydro pole snapped and trapped the driver inside.

Photos provided by Lambton OPP show the hydro pole pierced the vehicle through the driver's side window area, between the seat and steering wheel.

The driver was extricated and was taken to hospital as a precaution, while the passenger of the vehicle suffered no injuries.

Lakeshore Road between Army Camp Road and West Ipperwash Road was closed for several hours.
