Ollie's 2020 vision says early spring on horizon

Oil Springs Ollie the groundhog did not see his shadow Sunday morning during Groundhog Day festivities at Sarnia's Canatara Park.

Legend suggests that means we can look forward to an early spring.

Last year Ollie saw his shadow predicting another six weeks of winter. It's the second consecutive year that Lambton County's furry prognosticator has made his weather prediction in Sarnia.

Ontario's Wiarton Willie agrees with Ollie after not viewing his shadow Sunday.

At Gobbler's Knob, Pennsylvania an early spring was also forecast by Punxsutawney Phil.

The annual event has its origin in a German legend that says if a furry rodent casts a shadow on February 2nd, winter continues.

If not, spring comes early.
