The Sarnia Sting (18-29-5-1) defeated the Battalion 5-4 in overtime in their only trip to North Bay (11-38-3-0) this season.
It was just the Sting's third win in their past 20 contests.
Colton Kammerer scored the game-winner 2:13 into extra time, he also had an assist.
He said they could have played better, but winning is always nice.
"I thought it was a bit of a scramble from start to finish," said Kammerer. "It wasn't our greatest game, but I think once we got back to the basics and the simple things, it started working in our favour. Luckily, I was able to bang one in overtime and come out of here with two points."
Nolan Burke, Joe Mack, Ty Voit, and Jacob Perreault also scored for the Sting, while Theo Hill and Justin Nolet each had two assists.
North Bay captain Luke Moncada had a goal and an assist. Mitchell Russell scored and had two helpers.
Sting goalie Ben Gaudreau turned aside 28 shots in front of family and friends. He's from nearby Corbeil, Ontario.
Former Sting goalie Cameron Lamour made 16 saves on 21 shots in the North Bay crease.
Sarnia is last place in the Western Conference with 42 points, 11 behind Erie for the 8th and final playoff spot. The Battalion are at the bottom of the OHL standings with just 25 points.
The Sting are in Sudbury on Friday night in a game you can hear on CHOK.
Their next home game is on Family Day Monday at 2 p.m. against the Flint Firebirds.
