Man in custody after shots fired at Aamjiwnaang First Nation

A 46-year-old man remains in police custody on numerous charges after shots were fired at a residence on Aamjiwnaang First Nation Saturday.

Sarnia police said a man fired several rounds toward two individuals at a home on Wahboose Circle.

One person was struck in the arm and taken to Bluewater Health with minor injuries.

The area was cordoned off at around 8:45 p.m. and the community was put on lockdown with residents being told to stay inside, not open their doors or pick anyone up.

Just after midnight, a man who police said was having ongoing disputes with various individuals in his community, was arrested at a residence on Beaver Circle.

Police said a search warrant was executed and several firearms and pellet guns were seized.

Marshall Jay Maness is charged with seven counts of uttering threats to cause death, two counts each of assault with a weapon and pointing a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and failure to comply with a prohibition order.
