Sarnia-Lambton's active COVID case count up four

There was an uptick in Sarnia-Lambton's COVID-19 caseload Saturday.

Lambton Public Health, in its daily update, reported six new cases for a total of 426.

The number of cases considered resolved went up by two at 379, bringing the active case count to 22, an increase of four from Friday. The death toll has been unchanged at 25 since early June.

A workplace outbreak was declared Thursday after two positive cases were confirmed at an unnamed location. The health unit will only name workplaces if it believes public notification will help identify close contacts but Shell Canada confirmed Saturday an outbreak has been declared at its Corunna plant.

On Saturday Bluewater Health reported that there are no COVID-positive patients in hospital. There were 30 patients awaiting test results including pre-surgical screening.

Ontario broke another daily record Saturday with 1,859 new COVID-19 cases which is four more infections than the previous record set November 27.

The province also reported 20 new deaths.
