There's a new documentary film highlighting the unique partnership between local palliative care services and one of the top-rated cycling events in the province.
Over four years, the Bluewater International Granfondo has generated tens of thousands of dollars for St. Joseph's Hospice and Bluewater Health.
Co-Founder and Board Member Jon Palumbo said the film 'The B.I.G. Cycle of Life, A Story of a Community Living Well and Dying Well', is a tale of Sarnia at its best.
"Many people have been touched personally by relatives living end-of-life experiences in palliative and hospice, and they'll be able to relate and connect with it," said Palumbo. "We're blessed to have those organizations because a lot of communities don't. A lot of people will have participated in the event, have been introduced to cycling, and improved their overall health."
The documentary is being shown virtually, in partnership with the Imperial Theatre, on April 9 at 7:30 p.m.
Tickets range from $20 for a streaming link, to $100 for a link, food package for two, a bottle of wine, and Cowbell Beer.
After the race was cancelled in 2020, organizers are optimistic this year's event will take place on August 1.
Those who were registered last year, and didn't request a refund, will be automatically entered into this summer's event.
