Artists, photographers, poets and short story writers are being asked to help brighten up Sarnia's vaccination clinic.
The Lawrence House Centre For The Arts is tasked with decorating the Clearwater Arena clinic, which is currently being set up.
Board of Directors Vice Chair Leonard Segall said they're looking to fill up quite a bit of space with artwork.
"I think there is going to be something like 200 cubicles in the vaccination clinic, so there is certainly going to be lots of room to put up art. People are going to be spending at least 15 minutes in the cubicle when they get their vaccination, so it will give them something to look at."
Segall said they're getting a great response from photographers and painters, and they're looking forward to getting some poetry and writing too.
"We're accepting both original and reproduction prints, in case people don't want to part with their original piece. And also we're looking for written pieces, because people will be there for a while -- we're looking for poems or short stories that fit on one page," said Segall. "Our members are typically adults, so the idea was to bring in work largely from adults, but we won't turn anything down."
Segall said board member and City of Sarnia Event Coordinator Rachel Veilleux came up with the idea to decorate the clinic. Segall said she got the idea from the artwork put up at the Point Edward vaccination clinic.
"I understand that they solicited from the schools to get art to decorate their clinic, and that it's very cheerful and bright and gives a nice appearance."
The Lawrence House is requesting works on paper from 4" x 5" to 20" x 30".
Drop-off donations are being accepted between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. through April 11 at 127 Christina Street South in Sarnia.
