The Sarnia Legionnaires erased a five-goal deficit versus the Nationals Thursday night, but London still skated away with a 10-6 win.
The Nats got off to a hot start, scoring five goals under nine minutes into the game, prompting Sarnia to make a goalie change -- Nolan DeKoning replaced Ethan Everaert.
The Legionnaires responded at the 16:55 mark of the first, with three goals in just over a minute. The two teams traded late goals, giving London a 6-4 lead after 20 minutes of play.
Brayden Krueger scored early in the second period for Sarnia before Jett Morningstar tied things up at 6-6 with under eight minutes to play in the middle frame. However, the Nationals would end up scoring four unanswered goals, including one late in second period, en route to the 10-6 victory.
"It was a wild game," said Legionnaires head coach Derek DiMuzio. "I give our guys credit -- we battled back and played hard and we pushed back, we just made too many critical errors and blown coverage and it cost us the game, so we have to clean that up."
Morningstar, Ryan Richardson and Austin Harper all had three point nights for Sarnia. DeKoning made 32 saves in relief of Everaert.
The loss drops the Legionnaires to 5-15-0-0 on the season. Sarnia is back in action Wednesday in LaSalle.
