Wyoming to welcome Santa to Christmas in the Village

The Town of Plympton-Wyoming is excited to bring back a bigger and better Christmas in the Village experience this weekend.

Corporate Services Executive Assistant Rebecca Vandenberk said several community groups have partnered together for the event on Saturday.

Residents can begin to gather at the Wyoming Lions Hall at 5 p.m. as the evening will feature indoor and outdoor activities.

"People and families can gather there and be entertained by a live choir. The Nightingale Chorus will be joining us and signing carols," said Vandenberk. "They will have a fire pit set up on the side yard and we will be endeavoring to make smores and have some beverages, and free hot dogs are being supplied."

Santa Claus will join the festivities at 5:30 p.m. He and Mayor Lonny Napper will go around the corner to light the downtown Christmas tree.

"More carols will follow and then we're hoping everybody comes back to the Lions Hall," said Vandenberk.

At the hall, children can enjoy some colouring and crafts while waiting for a meet and greet with Santa. A mailbox will also be available for children to drop off their letters.

Attendees can also enjoy a free horse-drawn carriage ride.

"The horse and wagon will make its way around the main core of downtown Wyoming and stop in front of the Lions Hall and passengers can get on and off from there," said Vandenberk.

She also said the town is very excited to bring back the long-standing holiday event.

"It is great to have the campaign back. That's why we were determined to make it better than ever."

Donations of cash and non-perishable items will be accepted for the non-profit organization, Christmas for Everyon
