Former Warwick Township mayor vying for his old job

A familiar face is vying for the top job in Warwick Township.

Former Lambton County Warden and mayor Todd Case is hoping to hold the title once again.

Case has officially filed nomination papers for the October municipal election. He spent 18 years as mayor before retiring from municipal politics in 2018.

"Well the break was good for me there's no doubt about it, but I miss the job to be very honest with you," said Case. "At 57-years-old I still have a lot of gas in the tank and would love the opportunity to be the mayor of Warwick Township once again."

Case said he looks forward to discussing the issues and campaigning again, and his 18 years of experience as mayor will serve him well.

"One of the big issues here in Warwick is talk of expansion at the Waste Management landfill site, and I lived that from start to finish back during my political time and I think I can bring that experience to the table in dealing with WM, and I understand how that company works."

Case is challenging incumbent Jackie Rombouts, who is hoping to be re-elected for a second term in office. Jackie Rombouts was elected in 2018, beating John Couwenberg by just 77 votes.

There's a race for the mayor's seat in Petrolia too. Richard Poore is challenging incumbent Brad Loosley.

In St. Clair Township, Mayor Steve Arnold has decided not to run for re-election.

Ward one councillor Tracy Kingston and former councillor Jeff Agar have both filed nomination papers for the mayor's seat.
