It's expected to be a very busy long weekend in Grand Bend.
For the first time in two years, there are no COVID-19 related restrictions or mandates for visitors to the Lake Huron resort community.
Lambton Shores Mayor Bill Weber said in the past, the May long weekend had attracted 10,000 visitors a day.
"It's certainly going to be a busy year," said Weber. "People have been home and not travelling and it's always been busy here on the long weekend, so I'm expecting a lot of people to come."
Weber is reminding visitors of ongoing road work and construction on Main Street, and asks that motorists plan ahead and be patient.
"There will be some delays, there will be some gravel and dust," he said. "So, I caution people to be very patient. We have to deal with the construction and we have to deal with the traffic for this long weekend."
Weber is reassuring visitors the community is safe, following a recent fatal stabbing.
"That was a tragic incident that happened here, and we certainly hope that when people come they come to have a good time and enjoy the community and the lake. That was unacceptable and we have police and bylaw that will be out in full force."
Lambton OPP arrested three people in connection to a fatal stabbing in Grand Bend on Friday, May 13.
A 27-year-old man from Exeter was killed. The investigation is ongoing.
