David Stockdale has officially been named the City of Sarnia's general manager of Corporate Services.
Stockdale was called up to serve as acting general manager after Michelle Alton stepped away from the municipal position in August. The city announced Tuesday that Stockdale will stay in the position on a permanent basis.
“I’m very excited to be continuing my work in this role, it’s a chance to advance team dynamics at the city with a focus on supporting the myriad of departments and working groups that deliver critical services to residents every day,” Stockdale said in a statement.
His past experience includes working as the manager of Human Resources with the City of Sarnia. Stockdale also spent 10 years working for the City of Kitchener.
“David has already excelled at the role; he brings a wide range of experience and has built strong working relationships with staff across all levels of the organization," said CAO Chris Carter. "He knows the city, he knows the staff and he knows the challenges municipalities can face. He’s a proven leader that will help us build a stronger, more cohesive city team.”
Stockdale's responsibilities in overseeing Corporate Services include finance, human resources, legal services, purchasing, communications, customer service, and emergency management.
