Bidding opens Tuesday for Rotary's online auction

Bidding is now open for the Rotary Club of Sarnia's 39th annual auction.

This year's event is being held entirely online once again, and offers over $73,000 worth of goods and services.

Spokesman Michael John Kooy said there's something for everyone, with more than 500 items up for grabs.

He said they're generously donated by local businesses.

"We have professional services, including lawyers, and all kinds of gift certificates to bars and restaurants, they're there in big numbers," said Kooy. "There's a whole range of things, from $20 all the way to $3,000. Electronics, a couple of TVs, there's travel vouchers, and all kinds of things."

Other items of note include a gift certificate for Stonepicker Brewing Company, a full family membership at the Sarnia Riding Club, tickets to an Arkells concert, concrete from Sarnia Concrete, and four hours of yard work by Sarnia firefighters.

Kooy said the goal is to raise about $60,000, and all of the money raised stays right here in Sarnia-Lambton.

"We've been reaching out to businesses and individuals over the past few months, going back to regular donors and to people who are new to us, asking them to donate items. They've come up with a whole bunch of things for us."

The Rotary Club is able to fund organizations like Bluewater Health and Pathways Health Centre for Children, plus they're offering $1,000 to $5,000 action grants to various local groups.

Bidding will close on Sunday, November 20 at 9 p.m.
