Sting forward Angus MacDonell scored four goals, including the game-winner, in Sarnia's 6-5 overtime win in Oshawa Sunday afternoon.
Ty Voit had four assists to increase his league-lead in points to 36, and newcomer Sasha Pastujov had three assists, his second multipoint game in three games with Sarnia.
The Generals were up 2-0 just over six minutes into the first period on goals by Lleyton Moore and Beckett Sennecke. Marcus Limpar-Lantz got the Sting on the board at 12:52, and MacDonell evened things at twos with a power play goal at 17:28.
MacDonell scored his second goal just over a minute into the second period. The 17-year-old Toronto native picked up a hat trick with another power play goal at 9:58 to put the Sting up 4-2.
Oshawa pulled to within a goal just 20 seconds into the third period, their second power play goal of the game. The home side evened things at fours at 4:52, and then took the lead at 11:36.
The Sting pulled goaltender Nicholas Surzycia with just under two minutes to play, leading to Zach Filak tying the game at 18:35 and sending the game to overtime.
Sarnia took a power play into the extra frame, their seventh of the game. Just as the man advantage expired, 52 seconds into overtime, MacDonell backhanded a rebound into the net to give the Sting the win.
Sting Associate Coach Brad Staubitz said the guys came together for a good win.
"Today we lost momentum for a bit but we came through it, powered through it, the power play did a good job gaining it back and it was nice to get the win. And I thought Nick Surzycia played well for us in there as well."
Surzycia turned away 23 shots to improve to 3-0-2 on the season.
The Sting are 11-6-3-1 and have picked up at least a point in five straight games. The hockey club returns to the ice Wednesday to host the Mississauga Steelheads -- coverage on CHOK (1070 A.M./103.9 F.M.) begins at 6:30 p.m.
