LKDSB, education workers ratify deal

The Lambton-Kent District School Board (LKDSB) and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 1238 have ratified the collective agreement.

On Wednesday, the school board announced the two parties have each approved the deal. The details of the agreement have not yet been released, but CUPE representatives have stated in the past that issues brought up during bargaining consisted of wage increases and health and safety among others.

"We are pleased to announce that we have ratified the collective agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 1238 and we look forward to continuing to work together to support student success and well-being," said LKDSB Chair Randy Campbell in a statement.

The deal covers unionized secretarial, EAs, maintenance, and custodial staff members.

The collective agreement between the two sides is effective September 1, 2022 to August 31, 2026.
