Ribs, music, arts and crafts and more are on tap for this year's Ribfest at Centennial Park.
Sarnia Kinsmen Club Spokesperson and Ribfest Co-Chairman Jack Struck said they have five ribbers from London, Woodstock and New Hamburg this year as well as nine other food vendors and local breweries.
He said admission is $5 for adults and children 16-years-old and under are free.
"It used to be a donation, but because people were not donating, it got to the point that we had very little money leftover to give to charity, it was quite surprising, so we decided to go this way," said Struck.
Over the years, the Sarnia Kinsmen Club has raised over $1 million for local community initiatives and charities.
"Our big one is the food banks, all five of them around the city," he said. "The Canadian Cancer Society, Heart and Stroke Foundation, the hospice, you name it we help out people. You don't have to be an organization, we've helped out individuals that are in need and we have a committee that looks after that."
Last year over 25,500 people walked through the gate, about 10,000 above average, however donations were lower.
"I would love to see it [attendance] again like last year, but we have to face reality, money is tight," said Struck.
Gates open Friday and Saturday at 11:30 a.m., and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
Struck said the outdoor event also includes a Kids Zone, artisan vendors and other food vendors too.
"We've got ten other special food vendors," he said. "This is the first year we've had fish and chips. They're from Chatham and they're fantastic, I had to go down and try them out."
There are nine local bands lined up for the event. For more information visit the www.sarniakinribfest.com
