Thousands of Sarnia-Lambton residents feasted on some barbecue this past weekend.
The 24th annual Sarnia Kinsmen Ribfest at Centennial Park was another big success, according to Kinsmen Club Spokesperson and Ribfest Co-Chairman Jack Struck.
"Our attendance was not as good as last year, but better than the year before," said Struck. "So I would say between 15,000 and 20,000 people, we were pretty close to it."
He said nobody complained about the move to a $5 admission fee instead of a donation as in previous years.
"We had no issues at all, everybody was very glad to it, in fact, some people left a nice tip behind," Struck said.
Each one of the five ribbers walked away with an award.
Best Sauce was awarded to Route 55 BBQ, while Jack the Ribber took best Chicken.
Best Ribs went to Smoking Bandit, while Bubba Lou's Bar-B-Q took best overall and Silver Bullet won People's Choice.
Money raised from the outdoor event will support over 30 community groups and charities.
Over the years, the Sarnia Kinsmen Club has raised over $1 million for local initiatives.
